Restored and recently returned to service is North Eastern Railway's 3170 seen here at Embsay Station. The 1903 Electric Autocar spent a good few years in a field before donations, lottery money and hundreds of hours of work got her into this pristine condition. The "business" end, now with a diesel generator rather than petrol to generate the electricity, is very much a "black" box within the far quarter of the autocar.
