The Hampshire Narrow Gauge Railway Society was founded in 1961 with the aim of saving a Bagnall saddle tank locomotive from a North Wales slate quarry and establishing a narrow gauge railway in Hampshire. The Society gradually built a collection of Narrow Gauge artefacts which it loaned or demonstrated at other sites. In October 2006 it was incorporated into the Hampshire Narrow Gauge Railway Trust, an important milestone which has proved a most beneficial development. With its base for operations at the Bursledon Brickworks Museum Trust in Hampshire in the south of England, the Trust conserves and operates narrow gauge equipment dating back to the end of the nineteenth century.
