This unit was built in 1961 at Eastleigh as a 4-BEP, included a buffet car, numbered 7016. It was allocated to Ramsgate depot and used on the Kent Coast express service. On the introduction of TOPS the unit was classified as Class 410. On refurbishment in the 1970's/early 1980's the unit was reclassified as 412/0 and numbered 2305. This unit was then allocated to Fratton depot for use on the Portsmouth to London service. In 2002 the buffet car was replaced by a TSOL and the unit was renumbered 2315 in the classs 412/1 4-CEP series. The unit was withdrawn in March 2005 and soon afterwards it made the journey to Warcop.

2315 is formed of the following units:

TSOL 70229 (built 1958)
TBCK 70354 (built 1959)
DMSO 61799 (built 1961)
